About PJRW
前近代日本宗教ワークショップ（PJRW）は、新型コロナウィルスの世界的蔓延により、国際的な往来が困難となった2020年に、日米の日本宗教研究者の連携により設立されました。
現在、オンラインによる交流はかなり一般化し、地理的な距離に関わらず交流が可能となっています。しかしながら研究者の情報や資源が主要都市に集中しつつあります。そのため、コロナ禍で活発となったオンライン上の学会活動の多くが、パンデミックの収束が見え始めた昨今において急速に「対面」へと戻りつつある中、PJRWでは今後もオンラインにより、より公平で、言語や地理的なへだたりを乗り越える国際的・学際的研究交流を続けていきます。
Premodern Japanese Religion Workshop (PJRW) was launched in 2020 as a collaborative project between scholars based in Japan and the US as the Covid-19 pandemic severely limited international travel.
Online exchanges have since become a common practice, making it possible for scholars to engage in scholarly exchange despite geographical distances. However, we are also aware that networking opportunities and resources within academia continue to concentrate in major cities. As the global pandemic subsides and in-person meetings resume, it is also our goal to continue to promote more equitable access to scholars of Japanese religions across the globe, by providing online spaces that help to overcome geographical and linguistic barriers. It is our hope that the PJRW will continue to serve as a global and transdisciplinary venue that will contribute to networking opportunities and constructive exchange of scholarly research in the field of Japanese Religions.
